Hamilton is a regional centre for health care and professional training. The Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) system is a network health care centers in the city, providing specialty care for people of all ages and needs. With six hospital sites – including St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, which is nationally renowned for its outstanding patient care and innovative medical and surgical treatments – HHS has the largest hospital-based workforce in Ontario. In addition, Hamilton is advancing health care through education and internationally recognized research in affiliation with McMaster University and their Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, one of the premier medical schools in the world.
Due to their excellence in health care, Hamilton serves as an attractive destination for health-related start-ups. By bringing Hacking Health to Hamilton, technology creators, business developers, and the established resources in hospitals and health care professionals can work together to create novel, human-centric solutions to problems plaguing health care in our society.
